The film narrates the Captain Kemal’s story. He is Mihri Beli, a Turkish communist. He left Paris and arrived on the Western Thrace’s mountains in 1947 during the Greek Civil War being inspired, as he says, by the Greek anti-nazi resistance. He organized the multiethnic Ottoman battalion in the Democratic Army and he was the head of the Turkish language newspaper “Savas”-“War”. Kemal was born in East Thrace 85 years ago. He studied in Istanbul and the USA in 30’s and he contributed to the organization of the black workers’ trade unions. He came back to his country at 40’s. He taught at the Istanbul’s University, he became member of the Turkish Communist Party and was sent to the prison because of his political action. The narrator is “Captain Kemal”, Mihri Beli himself, who lives now in Istanbul. Also his wife participates through her own words. She met him, fell in love with him and married him in Istanbul’s prison at ‘50s. His old comrade and co-warrior from Komotini, Greece Grigoris Ioannidis shares with us a part of his memories too. The book of Mihri Beli’s memories from Greece titled “What Rigas has told” has not been published yet in Greece
